Reliable Data Services utilizes it's own managed server for our clients, providing the client with faster download speeds, and giving us much more control over the website and it's environment. Expensive? Very. Better for our customers? Absolutely.
We previously used shared servers, but found that response times varied too much.
What's the difference? Many shared servers hold 1,500 - 2,000 websites. When you access that site, you're "fighting" for access. Our managed server has < 100 websites ... plenty of power to quickly download your site.
If you're a webmaster and you're looking for space, we recommend GJWebs. They are one of the most reasonably priced hosts we've seen, their system is fast, and the management is superb. Their emphasis is on churches and other non-profit organizations, but they'll sell time to any reputable organization -- no spamming, no illicit or otherwise questionable material. You can't beat it for $48 a year!
